A Daily Routine

Here’s a quote from the War of Art, a book I’m reading about artists. (There are surprising parallels between great artists and traders.)

Someone once asked Somerset Maugham if he wrote on a schedule or only when struck by inspiration. “I write only when inspiration strikes,” he replied. “Fortunately it strikes every morning at nine o’clock sharp.”

If you only review your trades when you feel like it…

If you only brainstorm for new ideas when you feel like it…

If you only try to get better when you happen to be in a drawdown…

Then you’re putting a ceiling on how good you can be.

Inspiration for improving your trading should strike every day when the closing bell rings.

It doesn’t take much to make big improvements.

But it does take consistency.

How can you get just a little bit better today after the close?

Imagine doing that every single day.
